GG Rev Kapu to take up ‘Chief Scout’ role

GOVERNOR General (GG) Reverend David Tiva Kapu has formally accepted the Office of the Chief Scout of the Solomon Islands Scout Association.

In a meeting held with the National Scout Association on Tuesday 8 October at the Government House, the Governor General signed his acceptance to this appointment. 

Those in attendance were the Chairman of the Scout Council, William Bill Barile, National Secretary Robert Au, Chief Commissioner Joe Billy Oge and Youth Representative for SI on the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout (APRS) Youth Forum of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), Cornelius Vaorabatu.   

This Appointment will last his tenure in office as Governor General and this is in accordance to the provisions of the Constitution of the Scout Association of Solomon Islands. 

The Scout Association will formally thank the outgoing Chief Scout, Sir David Vunagi and will conduct an Investiture Ceremony at the Government House on Friday 25 October to install the New Chief Scout Reverend David Tiva Kapu. 

The National Scout Association Chief Commissioner Joe Billy Oge expressed gratitude to GG Reverend Kapu’s acceptance of the office of Chief Scout and expressed anticipation for a cordial working relationship during his tenure in office and that his leadership to transform the organization. 

Governor General Reverend David Tiva Kapu is yet to be knighted by his Majesty King Charles III and thus, he is yet to be accorded the knighthood title of ‘Sir.’
