Yasawa Saints Ready for First FNRLW Final

Yasawa Saints came from behind to defeat favorites Lami Steelers 28-14 in the FNRLW (Fiji National Rugby league Women) Championship semi-finals at Nausori’s Ratu Cakobau Park on Saturday.

Saints captain Sereana Nasau said they knew it was going to be a tough battle but they had set a goal to win and play in the final.

The former Fiji Pearls netballer couldn’t hold back her tears at the last buzzer.

“Credit to the players and supporters who came out in numbers,” Nasau said.

“We knew it was going to be tough to play catch-up rugby in the second half but we had to.”

Nasau said the team is not done yet and they are are one-step away from creating history.

“I’ve never played in a rugby league final and this is my first one. It will be a moment to remember,” Nasau added.

She said even though the team got away with the win, there are still room for improvement.

“There are some key areas in which we will have to work on.

“But we will savour this win today and go back and prepare for the final,” she said.

Yasawa Saints were ruthless throughout the game in defence and attack.

The side will face Police Sharks in the FNRLW Championship final.
