Sam Wye is hoping to don the white jumper for another national duty following his debut for the Flying Fijians last Saturday.
Wye replaced Simione Kuruvoli at half-back in the second half in their 29-14 win against Scotland.
The Nukuni, Ono-i-Lau lad said it was special to share the same village with captain Tevita Ikanivere when he walked into camp last month.
”It means a lot,” he said when asked what it was like to debut for Fiji.
“Coming into this environment and having someone like Tex (Ikanivere) knowing that we just from the same village – I think it’s a proud moment for myself, him and our whole village.”
He added making his debut at home in front of family of friends was icing on the cake.
“I’ve heard a lot about the Fijian crowd. This is my first game in Fiji and they lived up to all expectation. It was real loud; they were loud from the first minute and for the whole game.”
When asked what’s next for him, Wye said: “Next is going back joining the National Provincial Championship (NPC) and hoping Mick Byrne calls me again and maybe come back for the Pacific Nations Cup (PNC).”
Fiji will host Tonga on August 30 in their opening PNC match.
