The McDonalds Fiji Coral Coast sevens hopes to deliver better tournament every year.

Tournament committee chairman Jay Whyte said people this was the a local tourney where people get to enjoy high quality international sevens outside of the HSBC SVNS on home soil for free.

“We just really want to see the quality of the competition rise up every year,” he said.

“We want the spectators to enjoy it and the special guest that come over to spread the gospel.”

Whyte said the new additions to the tournament is the fan zone area.

“It is where spectators can take photos with special guest and get autographs.

“We want to have eateries and kiosk that people can access.”

Whyte said they hope to raise the bar with the addition of new elements in each year.

“We have got Rasta Rasivhenge back doing our social media communications,” he said.

“We got the international commentary team led by Shaun Maloney, Karl Tenana, Greg Clark, Rikki Swannell, Alicia Quirk, Nemani Nadolo, Lote Tuqiri and Waisale Serevi.”

Whyte had encouraged rugby fans in the country to attend the tournament in large numbers next week.

“We’re bringing an international sevens event to our backyard and it doesn’t take much to jump in the car or bus and walk right through the gates of Lawaqa Park to see who would be crowned champions,” he said.
