The Supercool Vatukoro under-19 team will have to improve their gameplan if they are to qualify for the semi-finals today.
This was the gist of manager Veretariki Vurewa’s comment during an interview with SUNsports yesterday.
“I want to thank God as we are able to finish day one of the tournament on a high note,” he said.
“We also want to thank our sponsors Aswin Chandra of Supercool California in America.”
Vurewa said the players desire to don the white jersey for the national Team is their daily motivation.
“One of their teammates,Marika Driudriu was included in the U20 Junior Flying Fijians squad next year,” he said.
“He didnt play Dean’s Secondary School Rugby as he played for the under 20 Vatukoro team.”
Vurewa said he was confident that a few of players will make it to the national sevens or Flying Fijians squad in the future.
“Most of these players are from Nausori Village in Ra who these young are farmers and sell their produce to get to this tournament,” he said.
“We are aiming to reach the final and win the Cup in the Under-19 category.”
Vurewa had also acknowledged their coach Ilai Nameke for his commitment and support towards the team.
“I want to thank our supporters and water boys who will be the future of this club,” he said.
“I would like to request prayers from our supporters as we head into a tough final day of footy.”
They face QVSOB in their Under-19 quarter-finals match.
