Waimapuru continues javelin dominance at the School Games

Day two of the track and field events on Tuesday 1st July at the Solomon Islands Secondary School Games (SISSG25) saw Waimapuru National Secondary School (NSS) from Makira continue their dominance from four years ago, claiming gold in both the girls junior and senior javelin events.

In the junior category, Philmar threw an impressive 24.68 meters to secure the gold medal, finishing ahead of Wasana from King George VI, who claimed silver. Chrinelster, also from Waimapuru, took home the bronze.

Meanwhile, in the senior category, 18-year-old Iverlyn Mekaboti of Waimapuru delivered a gold-medal-winning throw of 24.46 meters.

Priscilla A of Tenaru earned silver with a throw of 22.10 meters, while Constant from Su’u settled for bronze.

The results underlines Waimapuru’s continued excellence in the javelin throw, stamping their position as one of the top-performing schools in the event.
