Vanuatu boxers coming, ready to rumble

Ni Vanuatu boxers Roy Ser and Wasing Warawara arrives into the country next Wednesday.

South Pacific Boxing Promotions promoter Fred Chand said the boxers would catch a connecting flight to Labasa for next Saturday’s (August 10) promotion.

“The boxers wanted to get to Labasa quickly so they could get acclimatise to the weather conditions,” Chand said.

In the main bout Ser takes on Fiji super welterweight and IBO (International Boxing Organisation) Asia Pacific title holders Winston Hill. The 10-round fight is expected to be a thriller as both boxers had wealth of experience in amateur boxing before turning pro.

Hill won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, England while Ser took out the gold medal at the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Port Vila. During that time, he also trained in China. Ser has knocked out Rakuro Dauvavana in the second round and also Saimoni Ratu.

Warawara is to fight in the supporting bout against upcoming Frederick Chand of Nadi’s Seaside Boxing Club in the supporting bouts. The promotion’s official weigh-in is on next Friday in Labasa.
