Union members at Aspen Hospital take ballot for strike action – The Fiji Times

UNION members of the Aspen-managed Ba and Lautoka hospitals have conducted a secret ballot for industrial action today

Construction, Energy, Timber, Workers Union of Fiji (CETWUF) national secretary John Paul said a members’ log of claims was submitted to Aspen Medical this year.

He said the workers who took part in the secret ballot excluded nurses and doctors.

“We have 200 union members with Aspen in the Ba and Lautoka facilities,” Mr Paul said.

“Early this year, we submitted to Aspen a log of claims on behalf of our members on the improvement of terms and conditions and seeking a rise in wages and salary.”

Mr Paul claimed members were not paid their public holiday pay and over time wages were delayed.
