Royal Solomon Islands Police (RSIPF) officers in Auki have remanded two male persons in their 20s for burning down a kitchen at Aoke Langlanga, Malaita province, on 9 February 2025.

Malaita Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa, said the two suspects and the victim are related.

Witnesses confirmed to police that the suspects and the victim have had a disagreement among their families regarding several issues for a few years now.

The suspects have been charged and remanded at the Auki correctional centre, awaiting to appear at Auki Magistrate Court after 14 days.

Chief Superintendent Tafoa appeals and reminded his people to refrain from taking the law into their own hands when issues arise in their communities.

He said the best way is to report such matter to the police and allow police to do its work as reacting to issues in an illegal way will only create more problems for themselves and others.
