There are 10 spots available for the Fleming Roosters Touch Rugby revival tournament at St Thomas Primary School grounds in Lautoka on September 28.
This was the gist of committee member Misa Rokovua’s interview with SUNsports.
“The 10 spots are for the men’s teams with the $100 entry fee,” Rokovua said.
“Only two teams have been confirmed but they haven’t paid their registration fee yet.”
Rokovua said the tournament is the revival of the sport in Lautoka.
“We want these youths to be occupied with the sport of touch rugby to prevent them from drugs, clubbing and petty crimes,” he said.
“I would like to invite all to participate in the tournament if they are free and if one does not have a team. They can also come for the family fun day.”
Rokovua said they are in search of sponsors as most of the funds for the tournament is raised by the organising committee.
“It’s quite challenging but we get whatever we can from the boys in the fundraiser. Getting teams to participate is a challenge for us as well.”
Rokovua said they are trying to include a Police team to raise awareness among the youths about the drug crisis in the country.
