Top real estate agent charged with rape

One of Sydney’s most successful real estate agents has been charged with rape and sexual touching.

Omar Labibidi, 27, came in at number five in a News Corp article titled “50 real estate agents ranked by home sales”. He faced Campbelltown Local Court on Thursday, accused of a string of sexual offences.

The former senior sales executive at Ray White’s Macarthur office in southwest Sydney was arrested earlier this week and charged with three counts of sexual intercourse without consent, 11 counts of sexual touching without consent and one count of carry out sexual act without consent.

That’s according to court records, which show he was released on bail on a $10,000 surety and required to report to Campbelltown Police Station three times a week.

The bail conditions state he must not “go near, contact or try to go near or contact — except through a legal representative — any complainant or prosecution witness”.

In News Corp’s top real estate agent article published in June, Labibidi said he was looking for flexibility when he started in real estate eight years ago.

“I enjoy speaking with people and every day is different,” he said.

“Seeing the smiles on the faces of first home buyers, it’s a different feeling.”

The father told the outlet his largest recent sale had been at a home in Harrington Grove for $2.65m.

On the Relentless Hustle podcast hosted by Aaron Ishac, Labibidi said a career in real estate was his goal from childhood and he always “had a hunger for money”.

In the episode aired in July last year, he spoke about how he was never interested in school and wanted to earn a good income, so he worked tirelessly in three jobs for 3.5 years — at IGA, a butcher and Woolworths — in order to save up a deposit for his first house.

“I realised the harder I work dictates what I make,” he said in the podcast.

“Real estate was always what I wanted to do and I had someone in the family in real estate and they made it look good; it’s what I was drawn to. And being Middle Eastern, it could help the family.”

Labidi said he bought his first home in the NSW town of Orange when he was aged 18 or 19.

“It was the cheapest thing on the market,” he said of the home he never saw in person before buying.

“With all my decisions in property, I never overthink it. I didn’t ask any questions … I called the agent and said ‘how do I do this?’ and they told me to get a solicitor, and within a week I bought it”.

Asked if he works harder now than before he entered the industry, he said “100% … I’m the first one in the office and last one out. I sometimes start at 7:30am and finish at 8:30 or 9(pm)”.

“I’ve got to match that clientele. I still have that work hustle but it’s a lot more creative now. Every day I wake up — call it productive paranoia — I wake up and worry that I’ll go broke tomorrow and start again”.

He said while the “cars and everything are nice,” he worked hard mainly for his family.

“I want to give my siblings an image to look up to,” he said.

“I write my goals down every morning, and I write my ‘whys’”.

Speaking on the Podcast, Labidi said he has built up a wide personal property portfolio and succeeded in his job with Ray White, where his team closes more than 200 sales a year.

“They (Ray White) know what they’re doing,” he said.

“I run a team of five — four guys I’m training and one admin staff member”.

A Ray White spokeswoman said they were aware an employee of Ray White Campelltown has been charged with sexual assault by NSW Police.

“When Ray White Campbelltown first became aware of these allegations, the owners of that business suspended the staff member immediately,” she said.

Labididi is yet to enter any pleas on the charges.

He is due to return to Campbelltown Local Court on October 25.
