The November Test matches is an important phase for the Fiji Water Flying Fijians preparation towards the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.

This was gist of Flying Fijians head coach Mick Byrne’s interview before the team flew out of the country yesterday.

The wily coach said the current squad contained a few great stalwarts of the game who are coming towards the end of their career.

“Some of them have played in three World Cups and their legacy should be upheld in this regard,” Byrne said.

He pointed out that this is the ideal time to replace them with quality players as this is in-line with their preparations toward the 2027 World Cup.

“We finished the PNC (Pacific Nations Cup) on a high and it’s best to finish the year on a high as well.”

Byrne said this is an international programme where they are playing four Test matches and three of the Tests are against Six Nations teams of Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
