Taekwondo Fiji is planning to host three major tournaments in the country next year.
National coach Neelu Nand said this was to get the young athletes to be consistent in training.
“These athletes will need to prove themselves that they deserve a spot in the national team as well,” he said.
“The three tournaments will likely be held around the first term school holiday, in the middle of the year and one in December.”
Nand had requested all the major clubs to raise their hands to host these tournaments.
“We haven’t confirmed which club will be hosting first. It’ll probably be civic taekwondo, Nakasi and Suva club hosting the tournaments consecutively,” he said.
About nine clubs are registered under Fiji Taekwondo are Civic, Suva, Master Ra, Nakasi, Nausori, Sawani, Ba and Nadi club.
“We had 150 young athletes that took part and we are targeting more of the kids to get involved,” he said.
