Teen Lock Stays Away from Pressure

Captain Bitila Tawake said the team has learned so much from last week’s loss to the Reds at home.

Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua lock Carletta Yee is the youngest player to make her Super W debut against the Brumbies in this afternoon’s clash at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

The 17-year-old is grateful to the coaches and also the Drua’s support system for always being there for her.

“I don’t want to think too much about tomorrow’s game, don’t want to get pressure on me or anything, just considering it’s another day with the girls,” she told SUNsports yesterday.

“I’m looking forward to getting out there and having fun with them. Pretty special, I would say. I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time. It’s been a long way coming. I’m just grateful and blessed to be a part of the 23.”

Yee dedicated her selection to her parents.

“They’re coming down, to my mum and dad, this one’s for you.”

Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games bronze medallist Rusila Nagasau said this was all made possible through divine intervention.

“I want to thank the team management for believing in me, trusting me and giving me this opportunity,” she said.

“For me, it’s something really big because I always look up to the Drua players because they won the 2022 and 2023 Super W.

“I always cheer for them, supporting them, but to be here with them, playing with them, for me it’s a proud moment especially going into this game.”

She added that the team won’t take the visitors lightly.

“We have our game plan. We will just work on that and the result will take care of itself after the final whistle.”

Captain Bitila Tawake said the team has learned so much from last week’s loss to the Reds at home.

“So many learning from last week, the loss as well was kind of heartbreaking I’d say. We had the game but we just lost it towards the end of the match.

“Just working together is our main focus tomorrow and just putting points on the board and winning the game.”

The match kicks-off at 3.35pm.
