MEMBER of Parliament Lynda Tabuya’s fate with The People’s Alliance party will be decided next week as the disciplinary committee has concluded its investigation.
This was revealed during the PAP Namaka sub-branch meeting in Nadi yesterday.
Party general secretary Sila Balawa said a report would be handed to The People’s Alliance management committee next week.
“A lot of people were asking questions in regard to things that were happening within the party,” he said.
“So, as party members, I think you have the right to know what is going on. Today (Saturday) is the last day for the disciplinary committee that is looking into the case regarding Lynda Tabuya.
“So, we expect them to hand in their report next week.”
Mr Balawa said there was a process needed to be followed with Ms Tabuya’s case.
“As you know the party has The People’s Alliance management committee and above that is The People’s Alliance executive committee.
“The report of the disciplinary committee will be discussed by the people’s management committee and then they will put in their recommendation to the people’s executive committee for their decision.
“So, it is a process that must be followed to ensure that justice is done fairly whatever the case is resolved with fairness.
“The disciplinary committee in regard to our constitution also has the option if they feel that they need more time.
“And they can always ask for an extension of time.
“So that is where things are at the moment.
“Too many things we are seeing floating around in cyberspace but that is where things are at the moment.”
He said regarding Ms Tabuya’s expulsion from Cabinet, it was the decision of the Prime Minister.
“As for our Coalition partners, we have one agreement, and if either NFP or SODELPA has a grievance against some of the decisions they have the mechanism within the Coalition agreement to follow where that grievance will be discussed on consensus.
“By law Cabinet appointments is always the sole prerogative of the Prime Minister.”
