Chiefs winger Manasa Mataele could be joining the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua in next season’s Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition.
The Drua had put up a hint on its Facebook page about their next signing, where a map of Fiji highlighted the islands of Yasawa and Vanuavatu while in Viti Levu it was the suburb of Raiwaqa.
Mataele fitted the bill as he hails from Vanuavatu in Lau with maternal links to Yasawa-i-rara and was raised in Raiwaqa, Suva, where he attended Marist Brothers High School.
The 28-year-old has 58 Super Rugby matches under his belt, 32 matches for the Crusaders, 24 with Western Force and played 2 matches for the Chiefs. Mataele has played four Test matches for the Flying Fijians.
