Saint Mary’s Primary School has managed to retain the Fiji Primary Schools Labasa Athletics Zone competition title at Subrail Park yesterday.
This was after St Mary bagged 30 gold, 17 silvers and eight bronze with a total of 55 medals.
Saint Mary’s Primary School head teacher Sunil Dutt thanked the 88 athletes for their dedication in making the school proud.
“I would like to thank the teachers, coaches and parents for standing by their children and the students for representing the school,” Dutt said.
“It was a tough competition among the 17 schools that participated.”
He said they won more medals when compared to last year.
Fiji Primary Schools Labasa Athletics Zone competition meet manager Penaia Tunayau thanked the organising committee and teachers for making sure there was no major injury or accident.
“Even though there was heavy rain, the athletes proved that nothing could stop them from displaying their skills and talents,” Tunayau said.
Now the winners would prepare for the national meet towards the end of this month in Suva.
