ST MARY Tanagai Secondary School in North West Guadalcanal hosted its first-ever careers day program on Friday.
The event was staged based on the inspiring theme; “Your Future Starts With Its Version, Wear It With Pride.”
The event kicked off in the morning with a parade from the school sports ground to the assembly hall where the main programme was staged.
As part of the event, most students turned up with various uniforms and outfits of their career aspiration or choice.
From doctors in scrub uniforms to engineers in hard hats and tool belts, each outfit the students wore vividly brought to life their dream career.
The school’s Careers Master said the programme was the first of such to be organised by the school and it turned successful.
He said fashion is not just about clothes, but also a form of expression of what someone wants to be.
“We want our students to express their future aspirations through fashion, whilst also learning about the different career paths they wish to take up in the future.
“We are very proud to engage future leaders and future professionals in activities like this so they can come forward and display their vision or what they inspire to become.
“Each student’s outfit tells a story of his or her dream career and we are proud to encourage them to pursue their dreams,” added.
Elaborating on the significance of the theme, he said, “the theme of the school Career Day was very inspiring for students as it motivated them to dream of their future and work towards making it a reality.
“The theme reflects the commitment of the school to see its students work towards achieving the careers they would like to take up in the future and they have to envision what they want to be in order to achieve their career goals. When vision meets with action, miracles happen,” he added.
Ashely thanked every student for participating in the programme and said the school looks forward to hosting another one in the near future and encouraged parents and stakeholders to come forward to support the event.
“Parents, stakeholders, staff and students, thank you very much for being here to see what is actually happening.
“We are calling on parents and stakeholders to please come forward and support our young people because when parents stand behind their students and stakeholders provide support, we can see the positive outcomes.”
