The R.C. Manubhai Nataleira Sevens tournament director Solo Finau said they still have spaces for teams.
With a week to go the registration of teams will be closed tomorrow.
“I’ve 12 teams for the Tier One who have paid for their fees, we want 16 teams,” Finau told SUNsports yesterday.
“But if there are 12 teams by the end of the week then we’ll lock it at 12.”
Finau said there were 16 teams registered for Tier Two (regular sevens team category).
“About 16 teams have registered, we will lock it when the rest of the 16 teams confirm their paid fees of $300.
He said there have been six teams confirmed for Tier three (women’s category).
“We’ll lock it at eight, once the final eight comes by at the end of the week, but we want 16 teams to apply,” he said.
Finau said eight teams have been confirmed for the Tier 4 (Under-19 category).
“We need 16 teams and we have only eight teams confirmed with paid $100 fees,” he said.
“Voter Registration ID cards will be used to verify the age group.”
Finau said the deadline for the registration is tomorrow.
“It’s a first come, first serve basis for all categories,” he said.
Finau said they have set a target to raise $30,000 from the tournament.
“We want to complete the Nataleira Methodist Church building. We started to build after it got partly destroyed during Cyclone Winston and then it was completely destroyed by Cyclone Harold,” he said.
