Cat of the Week: Olive
We love our older cats, and it’s always wonderful to see how Canberra comes to the rescue of these beautiful, ready-made pets.
Olive here is 14 years old and arrived in rough shape. She’s affectionate and loves head rubs, but upon arrival, she was badly matted and desperately in need of some TLC.
We gave her a relatively severe haircut and got her looking fabulous again in no time. She’s spent some time with a foster carer and loves her scratching post and her toys.
She likes her own space, so would do best as the only cat in the home, where you can love your time together as sweet Olive enjoys her twilight years. Come and meet Olive at our shelter.

Dog of the week: Roxy
We don’t often get dogs like Roxy, the kelpie, at our shelter, and we don’t expect her to be here for very long. Most of our dogs take time to learn socialisation and companion skills; Roxy is already perfect!
She is incredibly affectionate, loves her people, gets along well with other dogs, and has stolen all our hearts.
She’ll sit down by your side immediately, and when you start patting her, she’ll strategically flop down and roll onto her back, where you must obey her and give her belly rubs. The joy on her face is clear to see.
Roxy is barely past the puppy years and has a long life of joy and love to give. Whatever you want in a dog, Roxy has it. Come and visit Roxy, you’ll soon see what we see.
Pawnotes: Thank you, Canberra, for attending our Million Paws Walk – we attracted a post-lockdown record of 2300 people and 1200 dogs attending the event. Thank you for your love of animals.
Visit RSPCA ACT today at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life. You won’t regret it!
