It was an upset in the Tailevu Zone senior boys 100metres final at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva yesterday.
Gold medal favourite Senirusi Rauqe of Queen Victoria School was beaten to the tape by Ratu Kadavulevu’s Samuela Navitalai. Navitalai’s bullet start saw him clocked 10.93 seconds to win the gold medal while Rauqe followed with the time of 11.12s.
It was Rauqe who clocked the fastest time of 10.6s in the heat.
The senior girl’s 100m final was won by Litia Lala of Tailevu North College with the time of 13.2s. The wins resulted in RKS and TNC topping the boy’s and girl’s medal tally at the end of the first day.
