Beach Volleyball competition at the 2025 Solomon Islands Secondary School Games (SISSG25) officially got underway on Monday, June 30, at the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) compound.
This year’s tournament is contested in the Under-19 category, featuring 23 teams in the boys’ division and 22 teams in the girls’ division.
Teams have been grouped into eight pools for both categories.
Speaking to Star Sports, Competition Manager Vaelyn Maitaki said, the increased number of teams reflects the growing interest in beach volleyball among schools.
“Compared to previous School Games, I can see that many more schools are now interested in joining beach volleyball.
“There’s also a noticeable improvement in the level of performance from these young athletes,” she said.
Maitaki added that the tournament also serves as an opportunity for talent identification, with hopes of witnessing more standout performances in the coming days.
The top two teams from each pool will advance to the round of 16, scheduled for Wednesday this week.
