Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua women’s head coach Ifereimi Rawaqa believes winning against the Reds would see them set the pace in the Super W competition.

Rawaqa says they are on a rebuilding phase; the win over defending champions Waratahs last week has been a challenge to keep the players grounded.

“We just want to make sure that we plant our feet again on the ground and that we have prepared well,” he said yesterday.

“Everything is all around our preps as get closer to Saturday’s game against the Reds. We want to make sure that everyone is focused on this game.

“The Reds are a quality team.”

“We respect them and we will make sure that we do the first things right. The scoreboard will look after itself.

“We want to win this game, and the goal is get a home semi-final.”

Rawaqa said having the impact of the sevens’ players is very crucial to their style of game.

“They have speed down wide and that’s why we brought in a few former reps to match them.

“We are also working on our defence.

“Everyone is focused on our performance this week because the result matters and it’s also a pressure on us to perform.

“We need these two wins at home so we can qualify for a home semi-final,” he added.

Sevens factor

Meanwhile, the Reds have included Australia women’s sevens players in their line-up to face the Drua.

They are Australian Sevens captain Bella Nasser, Teagan Levi and Kahli Henwood who have embraced a switch from sevens to the 15-a-side game for an initial block of two games.

The match kicks-off at 1.05pm at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
