Fiji super featherweight champion Mikaele Ravalaca will fight for the Professional Boxing Commission (PBC) New Zealand super featherweight title at Suva’s Vodafone Arena on July 19.

This was confirmed yesterday by Kings Boxing Promotion (KBP) promoter Nahroon Buksh who also indicated that Ravalaca would be facing New Zealand’s Ross Malthus.

“This is going to be an explosive encounter,” Buksh told SUNsports.

According to Box Rec, Malthus has beaten top featherweight boxer Zain Adams. Last year Adams beat Fiji featherweight champion Junior Binnu Singh in Suva.

The super featherweight title fight was made possible through a partnership between KBP and PBCNZ.

“This is a great opportunity to showcase top tier talent under the PBC banner and we look forward to supporting the success of this (Suva) event,” said PBCNZ president Ioana Schwalger.

This fight will be the main undercard to the Fiji heavyweight title fight between champion James ‘The Beast’ Singh and challenger Semi Dauloloma.

This is their fourth fight and both boxers have a win each while their third fight was declared a no contest.

“I’m still negotiating with overseas boxing organisations and by next week I should confirm another big international fight,” Buksh added.
