The Ratu Filise men’s sevens team will be vying for the top spot at the McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s tournament this weekend.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, head coach Etika Tovilevu said his players are eager to showcase their talent.
“We are going through the festive season now so preparation was not really good but the players came together the past two weeks,” he said.
“All 16 teams are vying for the top spot including us, but we’ll see whatever happens on the day.”
Tovilevu said his main target in their preparation is to improve the team’s fitness.
“Fitness is one of our weaknesses which we need to improve on before the game,” he said.
“We are really looking forward to the game for this week as the top teams from Fiji and the world is coming.”
Tovilevu told his players to raise their level of performance to match the tournament standard.
“These players know what to expect during sevens tournament, so we are ready for whatever comes during this tournament,” he said.
“I told the players to give their best in this tournament.”
Tovilevu had urged the supporters and friends of Ratu Filise rugby club to turn up in numbers for the three-day tournament at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.
The rugby sevens matches kicks off on Thursday.
