Rookie Fiji Pine Lautoka full-back Isikeli Rabitu is looking forward to this weekend’s INKK Mobile Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy challenge against Suva.

The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua utility back did wonders for the Maroons in their 16-10 win over Jack’s Nadi at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, last Saturday.

The Naila, Bau, Tailevu native who had maternal links to Nabudrau, Noco, Rewa scored 11 points in the win. He scored a try and kicked over two penalties to his name.

“I thank the Lord for his kind keeping as there was no harm or injury during the match,” the former Suva Grammar School student said.

“I am happy as this was my first Farebrother, it was a great game, and this win is special.

“We need to keep the momentum for the next match.”

His uncle and former Lautoka Rugby Union executive Suka Rabitu said his nephew’s performance was not new for the family.

He added that the Rabitu family was once a household name for the Maroons where they played for Lautoka and few made it to the national team.

“We come from a sporting family.

“We are proud to have played for Lautoka in rugby and for Isikeli he has a long way to go, and we are bonded by his side.”

He added that their sisters played netball and even went on to represent Fiji on international stage.

The Maroons last won the Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy in 2003 under head coach, the late Epeli Lagiloa.
