Fiji’s number one Sahil Prasad of Nadi Sport’s Club took out the South Seas Club Trustees Cup for the third time last Saturday in Lautoka.
This is after he beat his father Yogen Prasad 2-0 in the final at the South Seas Club in Lautoka.
Prasad walked away with $1000 prize money while his father Yogen settled with $500 and a trophy.
“It’s been really good actually because as the defending champion, it’s always hard to win it again and again,” he said.
He said it has been a very good Christmas for them this year.
“I’m really happy to be able to get over the line. I’m glad that I’ve been able to play my dad in the final.
“He’s been coming into the final many years.”
He outplayed Sanjeev Nadi who is Sigatoka’s current number one player, 2-0 in the quarterfinals.
In the semi-final, he defeated Jiten Prasad who is currently Fiji’s third ranked player.
“It’s always had a good tussle throughout these years.
“I’m glad that I beat him to win the championship title again.”
Club board of trustees chairman Jan Mohammed said the club would continue to work on making the club a premier venue for the sport of snooker in the country.
Meanwhile, the other quarterfinalist were Sanjeev Nand, Kushaal, Roneel Sami, and Abdul Zaved.
Top 16 qualifiers: Raymond Reddy, Esala Talebula, Lema Matailevu, Navneil Maharaj, Remal Narayan, Vineel Nand, Salend Gounder, Savati Natoga.
