The Fiji Police Force rugby team will fight tooth and nail to retain the Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl this year.

This was addressed to the team during the visit of the Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew and members of the command group to their camp in Nadi earlier this week.

The Fiji Police Force on their Facebook page said that Police Rugby president, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mesake Waqa said the players and officials have vowed to put all on the line to defend the title for their organisation, families and supporters.

The Shop N Save Police Blues rugby team is in high spirits ahead of their campaign to defend the prestigious title on Saturday, November 9, at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva against the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF).

Waqa said the Acting Commissioner’s message to the team focused on humility, noting that with all competitions, everyone prepares and trains for a win. And just as the Police camp is eager to defend the title, so too, will the RFMF be eager for the win.

He added that as the Fiji Police Force celebrates its 150th Anniversary, the aim towards excellence is to prepare the best Fiji Police rugby team, representing their families, friends, past and present police officers.

“We are fully aware of the difficult task ahead of us as the RFMF will surely be putting all on the line to secure a win. We wish them well and look forward to the challenge on November 9.

“To all Police supporters, please come down and support our teams in their respective sports, and we wish the RFMF all the best as hosts of this year’s tournament.”

The annual tournament begins next Tuesday with the boxing competition.
