Prime Minister (PM) Jeremiah Manele MP pays tribute to the outgoing Director General of the Forum Fisheries Agency, FFA, Dr Manumatavai Tupou-Roosen.

Speaking during a dinner hosted by the FFA to formally farewell the outgoing Director General, Prime Minister Manele highlighted, that under Dr. Manumatavai’s outstanding leadership, the organisation continues to thrive- contributing to the organisation’s overall goal.

Prime Minister Manele underlined, 45 years after FFA was established, the region continues to manage the healthiest stocks of tuna in the world.

The revenues earned from our tuna resources have provided the economic lifelines for our peoples, he added.

Groundbreaking for the new FFA Regional Fisheries Surveillance Centre.

“Today, I am honoured, on behalf of the People and the government of Solomon Islands, to personally thank you for the great work you have done for our region. You have made our region proud. You have made Solomon Islands proud as ‘your home in transit’ to other callings after your FFA Assignment.”

FFA has had its tests and challenges but the outgoing Director General was able to steer our ‘vaka’ through those stormy waters and ensured that the vision of our fore-Leaders remained strong and true, at the forefront of our members minds.

“Our Leaders that established this great organisation left behind a legacy of foresight and vision to know that “it is only together that we can overcome.”

Prime Minister Manele believes, the incoming Director General, Mr Noan Pakop will carry on the legacy left by Dr. Manumatavai.

Dr Manumatavai has served FFA for almost 20 years. Prior to becoming the Director General, she was the FFA Legal Counsel.
