The public is being warned about a fraudulent grant scheme being circulated under the name “National Community Support Initiative (NCSI).”
The Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (OPMC) issued the advisory on Friday.
“This fake scheme, which has appeared in some communities and on social media platforms, falsely claims that the Government is providing individual grant payments.
“The document in question bears the name and a forged incorrect signature of Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele, and misuses official government logos and letterhead to appear legitimate.”
The OPMC confirmed that the Prime Minister has no knowledge of, nor any connection to, this so-called initiative. No such program exists within the Government’s official development agenda.
The public is urged to remain cautious and to recognise the common signs of scams. These include unsolicited offers of financial assistance, especially those that require payment of a registration or processing fee in advance.
Often, scammers will use official titles, national emblems, or forged signatures to appear credible, and may attempt to pressure individuals to respond quickly or in secret. In some cases, people are also asked to share personal or banking information in order to claim a supposed benefit.
These tactics are designed to deceive and exploit. It is important for the public to understand that genuine government programs are always announced through trusted and official communication channels.
Anyone who encounters suspicious offers or documents is strongly encouraged to seek advice from the Central Bank of Solomon Islands (CBSI) or the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), including its Cyber Crime Unit.
These agencies can provide guidance and confirm whether a program or communication is legitimate.
The OPMC emphasises the importance of staying informed and cautious when receiving unexpected offers of financial support.
The Government remains committed to transparency, accountability, and protecting citizens from fraudulent schemes that threaten the safety and trust of our communities.
