PM announces 47th independence anniversary theme

The theme for this year’s 47th Independence Anniversary celebration has been announced by the Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele this afternoon, Monday 2nd June.

This year’s celebration will be commemorated on Monday 7th July on the theme ‘Unity and Stability for Transformation and Prosperity.’

PM Manele announced the theme at a press conference before leaving the country later this week for a number overseas engagements.

He explained the theme reflects the Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) strategic direction and commitment to inclusive stable and forward looking development.

“This aligns with GNUT’s four key policy pillars which are; economic transformation, infrastructure development, unity and stability and human capital development.

“Together these pillars provide the foundation for rebuilding and progressing the Solomon Islands,” he said.

He said, the national trade fair set for the first week of July will be a key feature leading up to the Independence Day celebration.

He said, this weeklong trade fair will allow every local business and company to showcase their products.

“This event is design to promote local products, businesses, innovations and culture.”

He said the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration is inviting all businesses, companies, farmers and interested individuals to apply for stalls.

Ministry of Commerce on Monday, 26th May announced that the 2025 Annual National Trade Fair (2025ANTF) will be based on the inspiring theme: “Trade for Transformation – Rebuilding Our Happy Isles.”

The event is scheduled for first week July 2025 and will coincide with the country’s 47th Independence Anniversary celebrations on 07th July 2025.

This marks the first national trade fair (show) since 2014, signaling the revival of a major platform for promoting innovation, showcasing local products, and connecting Solomon Islanders across all sectors of commerce, culture, and creativity.

In preparation of the Trade Fair the 2025 ANTF Steering Committee signed a Service Agreement with the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) to use the FOPA village as the official Trade Fair venue for the event.
