Newly crowned Fiji lightweight champion Mikaele Ravalaca Jnr will fight anyone provided if he is paid right.
The 21-year-old Ra native confirmed this on Saturday night following his second round knockout win against Mohammed Ali at the Bluewater Boxing Promotion at Suva’s Vodafone Arena.
Promoter Samir Khan announced after Ravalaca’s win that he is going to bring IBO (International Boxing Organisation) Asia Pacific super featherweight champion Runqi Zhou in May.
“I’ll fight him (Zhou) anytime,” Ravalawa told SUNsports.
“It’s all about business. You pay me nicely and give me the amount of money I want, I’ll fight anyone.”
Ali fell twice and the referee Faiyaz Khan of New Zealand stopped the contest 45 seconds into the second round.
Ravalawa said he could have ended the fight in the first round but he thought of the spectators who paid their admission to watch the fight.
“It would not be fair on them. For that fight, I didn’t show any of my skills because he (Ali) is a brawler. It’s only fair to fight like a brawler too. Ali made a lot of mistakes then I caught him.”
The former Ratu Navula College student has advised children and youths to take up boxing and stay away from drugs.
“Come to boxing it will give you a lot of discipline and will change your mindset.”
He acknowledged his sponsors including Fresh’et and family members who travelled all the way from his village in Ra.
Ali thanked Ravalaca for a good fight and wanted a rematch at 66 kilogrammes.
“I had to drop my weight from 68kg to 61 for this fight,” he added.
