Our Goal is to Beat Wales: Ravula

“Our goal is to be in the tier one category, and we are working on our micro-skills together as a team,” he said.

Rookie Flying Fijians utility back Isaiah Ravula is confident of an improved performance against Wales with the inclusion of the Europe based- players.

“Preparation has been good obviously we took a lot of learning from the game against Scotland last week,” he said.

“We’ve been training hard for a better result.”

Ravula said the team needs to lift their standard of performance against Tier One nations like Wales.

“Our goal is to be in the tier one category, and we are working on our micro-skills together as a team,” he said.

“The goal is to win against Wales, we play every game to go out there and win.”

Ravula said the players are eager to take on the field against Wales.

“I was advised to be myself, stay confident and in the game, everyone makes mistakes,” he said.

“It’s how you react to those mistakes whether you keep your head down or lift your head up and help your team-mates around you.”

Ravula said he has taken up leadership skills with the other players.

“Working with the other players, I know I’m young, but they still want me to drive things around and help Caleb Muntz as well,” he said.

“I had so much fun with these good bunch of boys and these players have become my brothers, so it’s been amazing.”

Ravula said there have been good and positive vibes between the players at camp despite the loss last week.

“It’s very cold playing in the Northern Hemisphere and we have done a lot of reviews.

“We have learned from our mistakes in that loss, and you can see why these teams in the Northern hemisphere are the best in world rugby.”

Ravula said the Europe based- players bring in a wealth of experience in the squad.

“Most of these players have played almost 50 (Test) caps for Fiji and they obviously played with some of the best players in the world,” he said.

“We can learn from them but also just have a sense of confidence as well knowing that they got the players back.”

Ravula said they hope to rebuild and learn from each match they play in the Autumn Nations Series.

“Everyone is excited and we’re treating it as another game,” he said.

“We can’t wait to see the atmosphere as Principality in Cardiff is a historical stadium and we know that the Welsh fans will bring all their support for their team.”

Ravula said co-captain, Waisea Nayacalevu, Josua Tuisova and Sam Matavesi are few of the experienced players that have joined the squad.

The Flying Fijians take on Wales at Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Monday at 1.40am.
