Solomon Islands international striker John Orobulu and his Rewa FC side are gearing up for a crucial semi-final showdown against Lautoka in the 2025 Extra Battle of the Giants (BOG) tournament this Friday.
The 23-year-old forward has been in impressive form this season across all competitions, currently leading the Golden Boot race in Fiji’s Extra Premier League.
Rewa topped their BOG group with a perfect record of three wins from three matches, with Orobulu contributing two goals so far in the tournament.
Speaking to Star Sports, Orobulu expressed his determination to help his team go all the way.
“I thank God for this opportunity to do what I love, which is playing football. Coming into this competition, the aim has always been to win the BOG,” he said.
With the tournament providing a break from regular league play, Orobulu noted the higher intensity and tougher challenges of the BOG format.
“I would say this BOG is much tougher compared to the league, but our performances so far have been outstanding.
“The only thing we need to do now is give 110% more than the other teams to achieve our goal of winning,” he added.
Orobulu also extended his gratitude to fans back home in the Solomon Islands for their continued support throughout his football journey in Fiji.
Meanwhile, fellow Solomon Islander and former Laugu United goalkeeper James Do’oro has also been in top form for the reds and having yet to concede a goal in the tournament.
The other semi-final promises another thrilling matchup, featuring a host of Solomon Islands talents.
Ali Mekawir and Jared Rongosulia will lead their Navua side against Labasa FA, which boasts a strong Solomon Islands trio in Tigi Molea, Junior Jack Ani, and Jimson Abana.
