Opposition Office expresses condolences

The Opposition Office has expressed its condolences following the passing away of the Member of Parliament for West Guadalcanal Moses Garu.

In a statement the Leader of Opposition and CARE Coalition Leader Hon. Matthew Wale, Members of Parliament of the Opposition Group and CARE Coalition Opposition Staff shared their condolences to the family of Late Garu.

“We extend our deepest sympathies on the passing of your beloved husband, father, uncle, and brother, the Honorable Moses Garu.

“We mourn the loss of a colleague and friend, who stood as a towering figure of humility, courage and service.

“He was a leader truly for the people, willingly shouldering the weight of painful sacrifice so that many Solomon Islanders could find reconciliation and peace.

“We remember and honour his service to our Nation, his role as a member of Parliament for SIDP, and his legacy as a founding Member of Parliament of the CARE coalition.

“In this hour of sorrow, we stand with you in prayer. May the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave his son for our salvation, uphold you and your family with his everlasting peace,” the statement said.

Late Garu was called to rest on Monday after battling an illness.
