Opposition Group holds dialogue with GP executive

LEADER of Opposition Hon Matthew Wale and his delegation has paid a courtesy visit to the Guadalcanal Premier Willie Atu and his Provincial Executive on Wednesday.

The Opposition Leader said his delegation is honoured for the opportunity to dialogue with the premier and his executive members.

Hon Wale acknowledged the discussions held between his delegation and the Guadalcanal provincial government and to listen to the challenges faced by the province.

The Opposition Leader also conveyed to the  Premier his gratitude to the traditional landowners of this land where Honiara is situated.

Hon Wale also acknowledged the leadership of Premier Atu in trying to bring back integrity to the office.

The two parties during the dialogue

During the meeting, the Guadalcanal Premier discussed key issues surrounding the Federal System, Palm scheme, Hospital for Guadalcanal, Provincial Members grant, National Projects, Provincial Revenue Sharing, squatters in Honiara and provincial wealth fund.

Hon Wale in response has acknowledged the issues raised by the premier and his executive.

The Opposition Leader said his office will be raising these issues to the Government and in Parliament.

The Premier Atu acknowledged the visit by the Opposition delegation.

He said such dialogue is the first of its kind.

The Premier said his executive values the discussions and engagement with the national leaders on issues and challenges faced by the province.

The Opposition Leader was accompanied by Opposition MPs; the MP for Small Malaita Hon Rick Hou, MP for West Are’Are Hon John Maneniaru, MP for South Georgia and Rendova Tetepare Hon David Gina and MP for North New Georgia Hon John Dean Kuku.

The Opposition Leader and his delegation will visit the Gold Ridge Mining site on Thursday as part of its program.

Guadalcanal province is the second province visited by the Opposition delegation following their previous visit to Western province.
