Being represented at this year’s Olympic Games was the highlight of Taekwondo Fiji.
This was after Venice Traill and Lolohea Naitasi created history when they represented for the first time at the 2024 Olympic Games Paris in August.
The duo also represented Fiji at the 2023 Pacific Games in Solomon Islands where they were both medallists.
National coach Neelu Nand said to be represented at the pinnacle of the game was their biggest achievement.
“Not only Venice and Lolohea were Fiji’s first athletes they were also the two first female to take ever take part in the Olympics for Taekwondo,” he said.
“This shows that our development has been working really well.
“We just need a little bit more push from the younger generation of athletes to step up to what is required from them now.”
Nand said their major local competition was sponsored by the Korean Ambassador’s Cup.
“We had more than a 150 athletes that took part in the event.”
While the 2024 games was history, Nand indicated athletes and coaches should work towards.
“All the clubs, coaches and stakeholders must get their mindsets together and we need to start our preparation works for the next Pacific games and Olympics games as well.”
