Office of the Auditor General welcomes new senior staff

The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) has welcomed four new officers as part of strengthening the Office in its mandated roles.

In a statement on Thursday 19th June, OAG announced the commencement of these new members into the OAG executive and management level.

The Office said, these positions are supported by donor funding, in particular the World Bank and MFAT as well as Solomon Islands Government.

Deputy Auditor General 

Vincent Misi commenced as the office’s first local Deputy Auditor General (DAG) on Monday 16th June 2025. The DAG is responsible for the operational oversight and delivery of the annual targets for the Office of the Auditor General in respect of audits, human resources, and overall operations. 

Vincent joins OAG from a senior accounting role in the private sector, and holds several qualifications including a CPA. 

Specialist Technical Lead – Performance Audit 

Bradley Lenga joined OAG on 2nd June 2025 as Specialist Technical Lead – Performance Audit. This role is part of the CAPSA project (Capacity Building in Statistics and Audit, World Bank project). He is responsible for leading the Performance Audit Branch and also oversees our IT Audit function. Bradley will also deliver some of the key CAPSA outcomes directed at strengthening OAG’s capability to deliver high quality audits on time, in line with international standards, enhancing quality assurance practices, and developing increased technical capability among our staff. 

A performance audit is an objective evaluation of programs, policies and activities aimed at improving the administrative efficiency and management effectiveness of practices in public sector entities. It provides recommendations on ways to improve the matters identified in the audits. 

Recent reports from this branch include the 2024 Audit Report on an Audit of the Solomon Islands Government Economic Stimulus Package. 

Bradley joins us after successful roles leading audit functions, including his time as Director of Internal Audit at the Ministry of Finance and Treasury. 

Specialist Technical Lead – Financial Audit 

Bridget Poiohia joined OAG on 2nd June 2025 as Specialist Technical Lead – Financial Audit. This role is part of the CAPSA project (Capacity Building in Statistics and Audit, World Bank project). She is responsible for leading the National Government and Commercial Financial Audit Branch who deliver audits of National Government, State Owned Enterprises, Statutory bodies, and donor-funded projects. Bridget will also deliver some of the key CAPSA outcomes directed at strengthening OAG’s capability to deliver high quality audits on time, in line with international standards, enhancing quality assurance practices, and developing increased technical capability among our staff. 

Bridget joins OAG from a highly regarded private sector audit firm where she worked on many audits including some government funded entities. She is nearing completion of her CPA qualification. 

Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and Parliamentary Reporting Manager 

Heston Rence joined OAG on 2nd June 2025 as the PAC and Parliamentary Reporting Manager reporting to Bradley Lenga. This role will assist the Auditor General in the delivery of his role as the Secretary of the PAC as well as delivery of annual and sector reports to Parliament. Heston is well versed in Parliamentary processes having previously worked as the PAC Committee Clerk in Parliament. 

The OAG is one of the key accountability institutions established under the Solomon Islands Constitution which requires the Auditor General to audit and report on the public accounts of Solomon Islands, including all Ministries, offices, special funds, courts and authorities of the Government, and of the government of Honiara City and of all provincial governments.
