“So far we’re 99 per cent going to plan with the programme. The Vanuatu boxers are arriving next Wednesday and will catch their connecting flight to Labasa.”

The South Pacific Boxing Promotions will be ferrying the ring across to Labasa for the August 10 programme at Subrail Park.

This was confirmed to SUNsports yesterday by promoter Fred Chand who indicated that they are on track for the programme.

“There is no ring in Labasa and this is the first programme there after nine years,” he said.

“So far we’re 99 per cent going to plan with the programme. The Vanuatu boxers are arriving next Wednesday and will catch their connecting flight to Labasa.”

The main bout sees Fiji super welterweight and IBO Asia Pacific champion Winston Hill taking on Roy ‘Tsunami’ Ser of Port Vila, Vanuatu.

The China trained Ser won the gold medal for Vanuatu at the Pacific Mini Games and has recorded a knockout win over top Fiji welterweight contender Rakuro Dauvavana.

In an earlier interview former Fiji middleweight champion Nat Ledua said the people in Vanua Levu are looking forward to watch Hill.

In another thriller, is the Fiji lightweight title fight between stylish Ubayd Haider (formerly known as Nathan Singh) against hard hitting Saimoni Ratu of Naitasiri. Haider is also the country’s super featherweight champion and has recorded two wins in Australia.

“The tickets go on sale from next week,” Chand said as they’re finalising a few loose ends.
