New initiatives to boost Nataleira 7s

“We change the competition format in such a way that our local players know what they can do in tight situations,” he said.

The RC Manubhai 7’/14” Nataleira Sevens has introduced new by-laws to spice up their tournament to be played from December 12-14 at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori. Tournament director Solo Finau told SUNsports yesterday that they included bonus points system which should be an advantage to all the participating teams.

They are hoping to rope in 80 teams in the four Tier competition format. The Tier One is for champion teams, Tier Two accommodates the regular teams, Tier Three is for senior women’s teams and Tier Four is for the Under-19 competition.

Finau said they are using innovative ways to create something new to bring back the interests in sevens tournaments around the country. He indicated these innovations work in two ways, which is to benefit the teams financially and further develop our players.

“We change the competition format in such a way that our local players know what they can do in tight situations,” he said.

“The World Cups have been won by drop goals, why can’t we use it? Teams should not only come to compete but to win by using what comes naturally,” Finau added.

In addition to bonus points, an instant reward will be distributed right after the match are as follows:
