National carrier joins airline network – The Fiji Times

NATIONAL airline Fiji Airways has officially joined global airline alliance oneworld, an achievement that it expects will translate into greater benefits for its customers and seamless connectivity across its extensive network.

Fiji Airways managing director and chief executive officer Andre Viljoen said becoming a full member of the oneworld Alliance was a momentous milestone for the company.

He said the achievement reflected their commitment to providing world class service and expanding their global reach, while showcasing the country’s hospitality to the world.

“As a full member, we are excited to offer our customers even greater benefits and seamless connectivity across the extensive oneworld network,” Mr Viljoen said in a statement.

“We look forward to welcoming more oneworld customers onboard to experience the beauty of Fiji and the exceptional service of Fiji Airways.

“oneworld chief executive officer Nathaniel Pieper said the introduction of Fiji Airways marked an important strategic step for the alliance in connecting more people, places and experiences than ever before.

“Fiji Airways customers will benefit from oneworld’s global reach of more than 900 destinations, priority services and premium lounge access, and we’re thrilled to welcome them to the oneworld family,” Mr Pieper said in the statement.

Fiji Airways serves 25 destinations in 14 countries and territories worldwide, including oneworld’s hubs in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Sydney, and its newest global destination Dallas-Fort Worth.

It has a fleet of 23 state-of-the-art aircraft, including its flagship A350-900s.

As a full member, Fiji Airways will:

– Access to a network of nearly 700 airport lounges globally, including recently opened oneworld branded lounges in Amsterdam’s Schiphol and Seoul’s Incheon airports,

– Priority check-in and boarding,

– Earning and redeeming miles, and

– Earning tier points.

Fiji Airways has also adopted the American Airlines award-winning AAdvantage travel rewards program as its frequent flyer program.

Mr Viljoen said that would ensure their most frequent travellers could enjoy all the benefits of oneworld alliance as AAdvantage members.
