Naha Women’s Football Club is determined to bounce back stronger as they gear up to face Koloale in their final catch-up match of the Solrais Women’s Premier League (SWPL) round one.
Following a narrow 2-1 defeat to defending champions Henderson Eels on Saturday, a loss that ended their impressive seven-game winning streak, head coach Lawrence Diau told Star Sports the result served as a wake-up call for his team.
“It’s a wake-up call for the girls, and I believe we’ll come back stronger in our final round one match,” Diau said.
Despite the defeat, Naha still sits at the top of the table with 21 points.
“I’m happy with the performance despite the loss, there are only a few areas we need to work on, especially our concentration, which I believe cost us the game against Henderson Eels,” Diau added.
Diau remains confident that the defeat will serve as motivation for his young side.
“Coming into that game with seven straight wins, I think this loss will push the girls to work even harder and come back stronger,” he said.
The coach is also optimistic about his squad’s ability to regroup and finish the round on a high note.
“The good thing about this bunch of girls is that they are young, eager to learn, and enjoy the game and we will continue to encourage them to play, have fun, and improve their talents,” he said.
