The PartsLink Automotive/Manasa Export Nadroga football side defeated the Extra Labasa, 2 – 1, in their last pool game of the BiC Fiji FACT tournament at HFC Bank stadium yesterday.

Nadroga team director Navin Kant said his team displayed an improved performance against a top team like Labasa despite bowing out of the tournament.

“They played to their heart but this is not the end of this story,” he said.

“We will regroup this same team and bring them in other tournaments and national league.”

Kant said the team will continue to play to the best of their ability.

“We will do our best for the fans of Nadroga,” he said.

“I want to tell the fans that their support was tremendous.”

Kant claimed that there was a technical error shown in the tournament.

“90 minute was shown in the stadium big screen and five minutes was shown by the side referee but that added time was not included by the match official,” he said.

Kant said the team had made changes to the format of their game plan.

“It was a great effort by our team. We played to our best and your support was tremendous,” he said.

Labasa drew first blood through the boot of super striker Rusiate Doidoi in the 26th minute of the first half to lead 1 – 0.

Nadroga struck back with a penalty goal to Malakai Lavecake in the 33th minute to level the scores a 1 – 1.

Jack Tokaki goal in the 72th minute sealed the win for the Nadroga.
