The return by MV Pelican Express trip from Choiseul Province was fully packed over the weekend.
MV Pelican did not make any run to Choiseul on Saturday 31st January due to bad weather. It finally did on Saturday.
It was revealed that as soon as the board arrived at Taro many passengers rushed to secure seats.
The vessel arrived in Gizo on Saturday night carrying a full load of passengers, most of whom were from Choiseul Province and the Shortland Islands.
Some Gizo passengers also boarded the vessel despite it reaching full capacity.
The fast craft was expected to arrive in Honiara between 6pm and 7pm this evening – Sunday 8th February.
Shipping authorities confirmed that the trip proceeded as scheduled and assured the public that all necessary safety checks were completed prior to departure.
The MV Pelican remains a vital transport link for communities travelling between Gizo and Taro, particularly for business, medical referrals and family commitments.
Other passenger shipping services operating weekly in the Western Province include MV Marina, MV Fair Lady and MV Anjeanette.
