Minister Mahaga declares 8% interest for NPF members – Solomon Star News

The Minister of Finance and Treasury Trevor Mahaga has declared 8 percent crediting rate for its members this afternoon Tuesday 30th September 2025.

This is for the Financial Year ending 30th June 2025.

The occasion to declare the 2025 Crediting Rate was held at the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara.

This is a positive crediting rate when measured against country’s economic challenges, it was highlighted.

This latest interest will be credited to all members accounts as of today – 30 September 2025.

As part of the Fund’s annual announcement the minister also announced a special death benefit (SDB) of $10, 000.  This is an increase of $1500 from the 2024 amount – $8500. 

The fund said, this is a very important event in the Calendar of the Fund that all members look forward to every year, to hear the announcement of their crediting rate.

The SINPF Board had met this morning [ 30 September 2025] to consider the 2025 annual crediting rate and had approved an award for its members that will be applied to their retirement account balances.

The previous interest rates since 2020 are below;

2025 – 8%
2024 – 4%
2023 – 6%,
2022 – 2.65%,
2021 – 6%,
2020 – 3.7%
