Fijian Drua’s Iosefo Masi is targeted to be the replacement of his fellow Taveuni native Semi Radradra at the French Top 14 club, Lyon.

Masi signed a two-year contract with the Fijian Drua in 2022, which will end at the end of this year. He has not extended his contract yet.

However, reports from Midi Olympique said that Radradra’s contract is also ending and is unlikely to be extended.

The article said: “According to our information, the Lyon leaders would be in any case today on the trail of one of the revelations of the last Super Rugby.

“On the Lou side, Semi Radradra (32 years old, 17 caps) is at the end of his contract and clearly, the Lyon leaders are wondering.”

Some time ago, club president Yann Roubert shared some sentiments on Radradra.

While the speech may seem polite, the Lyon club is not really certain of extending Radradra’s expensive contract.

“For Semi as for the rest of the group and the entire club, we hoped for more and better last season,” Roubert said.

“The magic of sport allows this restart with this coming season, which must allow everyone to show their worth, their attachment to values and that they can do much better.

“Each season, players reach the end of their contract and the season will give us elements for them to know if there is a common desire to continue together.

“It will also be an opportunity for everyone to show their worth and their desire to contribute their stone to the building.”

Last weekend, Radradra could not make the starting line-up for Lyon as they were thrashed 43-22 by La Rochelle.
