Navala light heavyweight boxer Kolinio Luvelolo is working hard to score an upset win over King Davidson in Saturday’s boxing clash at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
The former World Boxing Organisation (WBO) super welterweight champion hails from Lagos, Nigeria but is now fighting out of Australia.
The fight is under the South Pacific Boxing Promotions banner.
Luvelolo has been training under the watchful eyes of promoter turned trainer, Mohammed Samir, of the Bluewater Boxing Promotions at Wailoaloa, Nadi.
Samir said they have been training for two months.
“Solid two months and there is no preparation like this one,” he said.
“We will knock King Davidson out in the third or fourth round.”
Luvelolo since making his pro debut in 2022 has fought five times with one win, two losses and two draws.
SPBP director Mohammed Shameem said the rookie boxer needs to stamp his mark in the local rankings.
“He has to punch above his weight,” he said.
“We need more boxers to be part of this programme. We will be announcing the next programme and take it to a new venue later in the year.”
Meanwhile, the main supporting bout is for the vacant Fiji light heavyweight title where rising Suva boxer Paulo Ratumaikoro takes on Ra’s Apisai Naciqa.
