IBO (International Boxing Organisation) Asia Pacific super welterweight champion Winston Hill is on a mission to stop Australia’s Lachlan O’Shea in tonight’s main bout at Nadi’s Prince Charles Park.
A trim looking Hill tipped the scale at 68.45 kilogrammes while O’Shea was at 69.8kg during the official weigh-in yesterday.
Hill is targeting a double celebration as his brother Jonathan Hill is fighting Siliveni Nawai for the Fiji super middleweight title in one of the undercards.
“We are ready to dominate our fights as we have been spending a long time together (training) in camp,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to fight night. It is a big card, big fights with lots of big titles on the line.
“Prince Charles Park will come alive with the ring announcer and Sonny Bill Williams being present for the night.
“Team Hill is here, and it is different as I’m fighting alongside my brother for he is gunning for a national title.”
‘The Sniper’ confident
Meanwhile, Sebastian ‘The Sniper’ Singh said he is confident of winning the IBO Asia Pacific cruiserweight title from Australia’s knockout artist ‘King’ Tonga Tongotongo. Singh who also holds the World Boxing Foundation Asia Pacific cruiserweight title weighed in at 89.75kg while Tongotongo was at 87.55kg.
“I’m excited for the hardyards we have done with my opponent,” the Suva boxer said.
“We are in good health, a lot of adrenalin. I just want to get the job done.”
Singh stayed away from making any prediction but however indicated that ‘whatever happens, happens’.
Nawai warns
Fiji super middleweight title holder Siliveni Nawai weighed in at 75.5kg while Hill was at 74.8kg.
“I have prepped for this fight and I’ll await what Hill has in store for me,” said Nawai who is dubbed the Hands of Stone.
