The Lauru Kuvojo team has finally settled in Autonomous Region of Bougainville ahead of their international friendly match today.
The international friendly is scheduled for Wednesday 17th September 2025, at Buin, Bougainville.
In a statement, LFA said, the team will attend the Papua New Guinea (PNG) Independence celebration, and participate in the international friendly match against a provincial side in Bougainville, an event that follows the ongoing dialogue between Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA), and Solomon Island Football Federation (SIFF).
“Kuvojo earned this opportunity after edging out Western Tomoko 2-1 in the 2025 Solomon cup play-off, showcasing determination and teamwork,” LFA stated
“This friendly match signifies the growing bilateral relationship between Solomon Islands and PNG, where football serves as a bridge for learning and fostering unity across borders.”
LFA further stated that the team not only represent Choiseul province and Solomon Island football, but the shared Melanesian spirit of strength, culture and unity.
The team will return from Buin on Friday 19th September 2025.
