THE Republic of Korea is proposing at a deal with Solomon Islands to offer Visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders of both countries.

The proposal was highlighted when His Excellency (H.E) Jong Ho CHOI Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Solomon Islands presented his letter of credentials to the Governor General (GG), His Excellency, Rev David Tiva Kapu this morning.

The GG acknowledged rendered by Republic of Korea to Solomon Islands.

 The new Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Solomon Islands said he is privileged to represent his country in Solomon Islands and to work towards enhancing the strong and cooperative relationship that has flourished between since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1978.

The Ambassador then took the opportunity to propose advancing the process of a visa exemption agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders, aiming to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

In response, the Solomon Islands government welcomed the proposed visa agreement, recognizing its potential to enhance people-to-people exchanges between the two nations.

Furthermore, given that the Republic of Korea is a key infrastructure development partner of Solomon Islands, the government expressed interest in the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) establishing a permanent presence in the country.
